Trish Morrissey in her garden, Somerset.
Chapter 6 Synopsis:
Photographer, Graham Henderson, treated her like all other employees and was very generous.
There were 4 studios, learnt how to light a room.
Would get everything set up for photographers, did work in studio and on location.
Setup was just like a film studio, only once made mistake of pouring water down false sink.
Used a 10x8 camera.
Did own photographs on sets that had been finished with, photographed friends and models.
Preferred to photograph 'ugly' rather than 'beautiful'.
Later worked with photographer Tim O'Sullivan, more gritty portraiture.
Having made contacts set up as independent photographer.
Had an agent.
If you work for free you will be exploited and not get the opportunities.
Became intolerant of poor direction and working with weak ideas.
Bad experience of commercial photography reason she now takes her own pictures and appears in them.
