Moonlight Sonata
'Moonlight Sonata' reflects my fascination with the power of moonlight in relation to the darkness of the night. Each movement consists of three photographs: one of a figure in the landscape, a moonscape and an artificially constructed cosmos. The moonscapes show the profound effect moonlight can have on the landscape, making them neither night nor day but somewhere in-between. Further exploring this in-between state, I use the moonlight to light my own body to achieve an otherworldly quality, ambiguous atmosphere, with the body lying passively, suggesting a state of being alive or dead. The constructed cosmos becomes a reversal of the previous photographs, symbolizing the sacred nature of the universe, "separating the primordial elements: light from darkness, sun from moon."
