1414: the number of years since Northern Ireland's Good Friday Agreement. 14: the average age of our first post-conflict generation. 14: a transitory stage between childhood and adulthood. 14: a moment caught between past and future. These photos encapsulate the bleakness of a financially stricken society against the landscape of a fractured civility. However, the landscape themes are at times polarised by the emerging promise and light in the eyes of some of the portrait subjects. The result is as accurate a depiction as can be hoped for of both what these young people have experienced and what they have yet to encounter, as they grow up in this fractious and fiscally challenged society.
