Innehalten
Innehalten implies to pause, recollect and meditate. These subjects' immersion into water triggers stimulation of senses and frees space for consideration of life's instantaneity. The water changes perceptions of the surroundings and stands as a metaphor for the beginning of existence. It creates the atmosphere of the pure, centred, and uninfluenced state of mind from which we evolved. Thoughts and concerns for the future become secondary to the sudden, pressing need for oxygen. The subject is immersed in the moment, liberated from goals and intentions. Physical need outplays desire in this present awareness of space. This series of photographs represents removals from the everyday in a momentary refocusing of the mind.
