MarkheimDuring times of distress we don't feel like our rational selves and experience acute internal conflict, often surfacing in self-destructive behaviour. In this series I explore the darker side of one's mind; photographing a part of the psyche which is hidden from the public gaze. This project aims to scrutinise those negative feelings through a series of self-portraits, creating a narrative in which I explore my own roll as an alter ego. Drawing on the techniques used in traditional photography to create ethereal and uncanny images. The use of long exposures distorts the face, illustrating the detrimental effect on our identity and self-worth.
