Nathan Vidler

My work explores the themes of social relationships, with a particular focus on the intimacies of interaction and an investigation into the psychological and metaphysical barriers which seem to be placed between each of us; either by ourselves of societies expectations. Presented here is a selection of images extracted from two bodies of work, the first being from a series of portraits of my immediate family. This takes the above theme and places it directly in the context of the family. The second selection of images is taken from a series of seagull portraits, which aims to draw parallels between animal behaviour and the human behaviour, whilst commenting on the fragility of people and the human condition.
