Simon Westgate
Working initially in the fields of Documentary and Commercial photography, Simon returned to university in order to further his understanding of the medium of photography and its place within the art world. His work now uses Sculpture, Graphics, Printmaking, Interactive Installations and data manipulation as a means to highlight data and tell stories alongside his more traditional works. In this series he creates a set of subversive advertising posters to highlight the failings of the current government and the increased persecution of the most vulnerable and needy. The posters were placed, without permission, across London in the run up to the 2014 European elections, using the words and promises of the candidates alongside verified facts showing the duplicity of these statements.
