Visio Obscura

Visio Obscura (Dark Vision) explores the experience of sight loss, describing the visually impaired participant's often ingenious solutions to negotiating both public and private worlds. The solutions range from the technological such as the iPhone, whose design and applications were made with their needs clearly in mind, to the handmade, like folding each denomination of paper money differently so it can be recognised in their wallet. Reflections on assistive technology and the haptic design within their environment, emphasises each participant's own sense of agency as active members of society. Crucially they don't want to be considered as an inspiration for simply getting on with their daily lives.
