Lucent
A romanticised snapshot of friendship, the intimate relationship between the subject and myself, Lucent is an exploration of a woman, photographing the feminine, and a response to the gaze. My ambition was to create photographs where the focus is not on the body but the elegance of being carefree. Using medium format film, the limitation of the medium established an informal approach; interrupted by conversation, each portrait was formed over an extended period of time, leading to the sitter letting go of the consciousness of being naked. This series focuses on the aura surrounding those individuals in my life who have a positive impact on myself and those around them.
