Untitled (Conscious Unconscious)
This series explores the effects of anxiety, investigating the feelings and emotions experienced when suffering from a panic attack. During this time despite being physically present, we are not mentally present, with panic overcoming our consciousness. This series of images reflects my experience of suffering with anxiety, capturing the emotions attached to these events, conveying the feeling of being taken over by panic. Emotions associated with anxiety are, feelings of apprehension and dread, pounding heart and shortness of breath, to name a few. I have created my series of self-portraits using obstructions in front of the lens to convey the isolation and panic felt to the viewer who may not have experienced these feelings first hand.
