Straight Portraiture
Recognition of LGBT rights has come a long way in recent years, with first civil partnerships and then marriage equality. My concern for equal tratment and genesis of this project stems not from identifying as LGBTQ myself but rather from my humanist beliefs. There are still some strides to make to achieve true equality and acceptance of the diverse nature of human sexuality and gender identity. For all the strides forward, there is still resistance to moving the last steps to true equality. This series celebrates diversity in LGBTQ+ society, working with individuals who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered or queer and allows them to present themselves to the world on their own terms.
