Katie Lowe
Shift
My work is created on a favourite stretch of beach on the north coast of Cornwall. Using my custom built lens-less camera I turn to the horizon and pan the scene. In the morning light the duration of my exposures varies between 8 and 120 seconds, creating unique colour shifts on the film's emulsion - interactions of light and chemistry. The 120mm transparencies work together to represent the ephemeral qualities of this unique place. Presented on a light box, they draw the viewer into the horizon for closer inspection, an echo of my act of photography.
