The work 'Place' deals with emotional and psychological connections with domestic space; and the idea that, what may provide a safe and secure shelter for one person, may act as an isolating and lonely four walls for another. Throughout these images, the home is explored in a poetic manner, contemplating walls as metaphoric barriers, whereas windows and doors act as a breakage in the enclosure. Alternatively, the idea of presenting a person within a home creates associations with the 'gaze' and performance in photography. The prominent use of theatrical lighting points to ideas related to staging within photographs, and thus questioning concepts of fiction and reality, and the public and private.
