Salt and Grit
Salt and Grit takes a look at British suburbia. Its focus is on one satellite town located twenty-three miles east of London and investigates the way in which people create facades to demonstrate perceptions of what they deem as ideal. It explores how people use these illusions to show off and project an impression for their neighbours, visitors and the public. It also examines concepts of pride as much as it does insecurity and vanity. Salt and Grit is steeped in feelings of familiarity, nostalgia, and sentiment but also, the idea of the American Dream.
