Stephanie Deegan
My body of work focuses on people’s obsessions with their mobile phones. Anywhere you go you are never too far from someone using their phone to talk, text or use the internet. A pocket-sized device that controls our every move. Although its main purpose is to bring us together when we are apart it is in fact separating us from the people we are with and isolating us from our surroundings. I feel it has taken life out of living. With my practice I am hoping to highlight our dependency on technology, showing people how much time they spend on their phones. Make an effort to look up from your phone and see the world before it passes you by.
