If these walls could talk
“If these walls could talk” is a series of photos made in the now derelict, former Magdalene Laundry on Sean McDermott Street in Dublin. This project was inspired by the story of Margaret Bullen, who was placed in the Gloucester Road laundry in 1967 and was never released back into society. A woman who was declared mentally unfit to be educated but fit for work. This series of photos asks the question if these walls could talk what would they tell us? Would they demand that we do not forget the voices of women and children who were systematically failed by both state and church. Women like Margaret, and countless others who are still seeking justice today.
