The idea of making the future better for ourselves is a narrow and flawed concept. The methods and technologies we have created that intend to help progress us are the same creations that in-peed us. The notion that we should improve our lives and not the Earth's is a selfish endeavour, in time all the Humans will be no more. Gone like the Dodo. So why should we bother thinking about our own future when we will be gone long before the Planet?
