| The signs of photographic construction in this series are made explicit through lighting and composition, which generates a heightened juxtaposition between the banal and theatrical. My idea comes from my experience of staying in different cities for a period of time - from trying to know more about a new place and feeling excited, insecure, frustrated and eventually indifferent. My work concentrates on portraying the mundane places and moments to which we normally pay no attention. By creating pictures of the everyday surrounding, I am able to bridge my imaginary space with the real. I am seeking to redeem the ordinary and insignificant, and construct a distinctive visual language of my own. |
