Sarkiz Mutafyan
Solace
The series Solace is strongly influenced by the culture and energy of my origin, and the subsequent desire to retain elements from it. The latter involves a constant process of translation in which the fragments of images come into play. The resulting eclectic set of pictures is drawn from different periods of my life and homeland, which have been punctuated by many ruptures, including the divide of my family and the constant feeling of rootlessness. The concept of personal and collective experience and storytelling is explored by juxtaposing the images, all of which aim to seek a sense of solace in the immediate surroundings.
