Look After It For Me
This project embodies my raw grief over losing my maternal grandmother, who raised me, when I turned eighteen. Captured within a memory box, the images resonate with the rhythms of our lives, weaving through home, town, and beach. They evoke a sense of simultaneous ‘then and now’. Through a series of ‘absence portraits’, I explore my grandmother's lingering presence and absence in my life. The accompanying text amplifies the theme of fragmented, blurry memories. Intertwined are The Inventory of Lost Things, illustrations representing objects no longer in my possession, tied to my memories of that period. By subverting my family's established narratives, I reclaim and tell my own story.
