Iris Tusa
Thresholds
Thresholds captures the emotions of my childhood and transforms them into evocative images. By lifting them out of this context and reframing them, I aim to convey meaningful flashes from my past that viewers can relate to, even if the memories take different forms. Rather than documenting historical spaces, Thresholds serves as a bridge between memory and imagination, reality and fantasy. Photography is used as an artistic metaphor rather than a documentary tool. The project explores memory through layers, each marked by a threshold in my photographic journey—from outside homes to personal spaces, from barren landscapes to vibrant childhood play, and from digital to Polaroid images reflecting dreams and nostalgia. Each layer offers a unique view of these memories.
