Sofiia Vinnichenko
Postponed Disbelief
Sofiia Vinnichenko (b. 2000) is a Ukrainian artist. Postponed Disbelief, Continuous struggle of inability and desire to believe. Whether in divinity or the future. I look at my family's archival images, translating them blindly – the way I learned to translate memories about my dreams stuck in the language I don't use anymore. I repeat. It terrifies and comforts me. Life – a single moment stretched to eternity during a fall. My parents were raised in a world of godless utopia. I was born 9 years after God was reinvented. Can I reinvent myself? Sometimes I still fight a wish to believe. And sometimes I make pictures of something I can’t see, then the only thing left – to believe.
