Fengyang Zeng
Echoes, Silence, Presence,
Fengyang Zeng is a photographic artist from China, currently completing her MA in Photography at the Royal College of Art. She has dedicated her practice to exploring themes of time, memory, death, and relationships. For five years, she documented the lives of 100 middle-class families in China's first-tier cities, capturing moments across all stages of life, including birth, growth, aging, and death. In her series "Echoes, Silence, Presence," she combines sound, images, and installations to explore the theme of death. This work is inspired by her personal experiences of repeatedly facing the loss of loved ones, which has profoundly shaped her understanding of life's fragility and the sense of powerlessness in the face of death.
