Dependency
My work explores the intricate relationship between humans and nature, sparked by observing a young tree supported by human elements. Through colour and black-and-white photographs, I capture overlooked details in local parks, questioning the extent of our dependence on nature and the impressions we leave on it. Inspired by artists like Johan Blakemore, Susan Trangmar, and Ivo Přeček, my art highlights the subtle interplay between human-made and natural elements. Referencing works like Picturing Eden and Contemporary Photography and the Garden, I reflect on the history of photography in environmental art. Using digital photography and Photoshop layers to create manipulated images, I encourage viewers to recognise their interactions with nature and understand how our behaviours can shape the larger environmental picture.
