RICONOSCERSI

I wished to make a record of the people of Mesagne (Italy) and their roles in the community, as a document of our present reality. The title "Riconoscersi" embodies the act of recognising oneself and recognising others. I approached my subjects with a sense of respect, empathy, and a commitment to egalitarianism, valuing each person's contribution. The town has undergone a remarkable transformation, transcending its once-pervasive mafia roots to emerge as a cultural beacon in the region. Through these portraits, viewers are encouraged to project themselves into the narrative, fostering a sense of recognition and resonance. Whether through shared social contexts, lived experiences, or emotional connections, the images serve as mirrors reflecting aspects of the viewer's own identity and humanity.
