And happiness goes crashing over us
The Department of Political and Social Order (DOPS) was the department responsible for the state crimes and my father was a police agent working for the dictatorship until his retirement. It was only as an adolescent that I began to become concerned with the role that he played while working for DOPS. Through research into his career, I found a document stating that my father was accused of extortion whilst on duty. Many of the original documents relating to his ‘case’ were moved to the guardianship of the federal police and burned afterwards, therefore they are no longer available to me. This project attempts to piece together the story of this period with the creation of new documents and images.
