Geoffrey Bird
For My Wife
My practice is rooted in personal experience and collaboration with my wife. She was diagnosed with young onset Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 55. The photography explores themes of memory, identity, loss, and connection. Using self-portraiture, family archives, and natural elements, I seek to convey the emotional realities of caregiving while preserving dignity and presence for my wife. My practice challenges the boundaries between documentation and reflection, advocacy and art. The work is an expression of love, grief, and the shifting landscape of our shared lives together.
