Rainbow in the Dark
Rainbow in the Dark is an autobiographical documentary project exploring autism through the everyday life of my autistic son, alongside reflections on my own late diagnosis. The images are observational and unstaged, capturing quiet domestic routines, emotionally charged moments, and subtle instances of social isolation or personal discovery, such as his first experiences of smoking and drinking coffee. The project is inspired by the lyrical themes of Ronnie James Dio, whose music explores identity, alienation, and resilience. While grounded in reality, the work seeks to convey the emotional intensity and complexity of neurodivergent experience. It challenges clinical or stereotypical representations, offering instead a personal, compassionate portrait of autism as something deeply human, relational, and often misunderstood.
