Bottom of the Driftless
Bottom of the Driftless, centers on a place called Wayward Farms and the rhythms of this family homestead, the framing of adjacent fields, the character of nearby towns, and the encroaching wildness. It is a meditation on place, weaving together themes of land and belonging. The Driftless region was left largely untouched by the glaciers of the last Ice Age. Along its southern boundary, where the terrain shifts from rolling farmland to limestone bluffs and undulating hills, Wayward Farms stands as a witness to and an artifact of the region’s economics, culture, and politics. Bottom of the Driftless embraces the particular beauty of this place – its contradictions, endurance, and quiet insistence on being seen.
