Caroline Black

(m)other.

I consider myself a flâneuse of the forest; it is where I create, reflect, and question, moving between the external environment and the internal world. An archetype of folktales, the forest symbolises the feminine and the subconscious, becoming both setting and character. It offers a space for stories to unfold in the liminality between reality and imagination. (m)other. explores the complexities of womanhood through reimagined woodland landscapes shaped by digital manipulation and metaphorical visuals. At its heart lies a quiet meditation on the choices, challenges, and identities women must navigate, particularly around motherhood. This work is layered with hidden meaning and ambiguity, inviting reflection rather than resolution.
