Phantasms of the Blue Sky
Phantasms of the Blue Sky is a body of work that explores multifaceted migration narratives by exploring diasporic, introspective, and speculative journeys as shared human experiences. Rooted in my lived experience as a first-generation immigrant with ties to India, Oman, and America, the series navigates personal and ancestral memory through image-making, transforming grief and alienation into spaces for healing. Allegorical compositions with layered visuals weave fragmented stories into a tapestry resisting nativism and xenophobia, while an accompanying flash fiction piece employs magical realism to reweave interconnected struggles. Ultimately, the work reclaims agency, dismantling borders, both physical and ideological through visionary, interconnected worlds of care, restoration, and re-enchantment, as reminders that another world is possible.
