Quarry Blasting connects destruction and creativity as an influential, symbolic spark constituting a momentary experience of freedom. These events of rupture and release are not merely spectacle, but are an instinctual experience that inherits the tension between breakdowns and transformations. It is within this tension that I engage the theory of positive disintegration - a philosophy that sees disintegration not as the end, but as an essential process for something greater to transpire. Through this lens, I support the viewpoint that breakdowns, while maybe painful, are productive grounds for personal or societal transformation. In this way of thinking, my work invites the audience to reflect on how moments of disarray or loss can become opportunities for freedom, growth and reinvention.
