Digital Mob Football
Digital Mob Football explores football’s transition from a working-class entertainment to a multi-billion dollar industry. The project uses digital image editing processes such as datamoshing, scanography, digital photo collages, and code manipulation to examine how football’s corporate overhaul impacts the game and its viewing experience. As the sport transforms into a profit-driven industry, attending matches becomes financially inaccessible for many. This shift drives fans toward digital piracy, which diminishes the quality of the viewing experience. The title references football’s medieval origins as a violent, ruleless sport played by the working class. As a passionate fan, I aim to highlight the effects of business driven decisions on both the sport itself and its audience.
