Daisy Peile
My enthusiasm for my craft derives from a love of medium format photography; the slow, deliberate use of the camera, the richness of the image and the intimacy it demands. The inspiration for this project was a desire to use the tactile nature of analogue processes to storytell through performative photography. My work explores the intersection of identity, space and presence, focusing on using the body as both subject and a tool to challenge perception and narrative. This project became an opportunity to experiment, resulting in a collection of abstract images that serve as visual expressions of an introspective narrative. At its core, the project navigates themes of self-reflection and personal evaluation — delving into the complexities of ego, identity, and the layered performance of femininity. By using my own body as both subject and symbol, I aim to reveal moments of vulnerability and confront the boundaries between self-awareness and self-presentation.
