Looking at, Looking through
‘Looking at, Looking through’ explores the concepts of how materiality can display memory and coincidence. Materiality, in this case, is defined by the intangible subject of the images as well as the physical materials used to present and produce the imagery. Memories are fragile, while our subconscious has an overflowing supply, some are not retained quite as deeply as others. Photography has the power to immortalise those that would have otherwise slipped away over time and aid those that were otherwise not captured. These images are then passed from generation to generation, allowing the memories that have outlived their owners to find new meanings as they are rediscovered and explored.
