Samuel Measey
This Train Stops At
Samuel Measey’s This Train Stops At is a photographic exploration of grief, memory, and ritual following the loss of a close friend. Combining excerpts from his counselling journal, photography, and archival imagery, the project traces the subtle details and fleeting moments that unexpectedly trigger remembrance while navigating the ongoing process of loss. Using the train journey as both metaphor and ritualistic space, Measey reflects on the emotional landscape of friendship, absence, and movement through grief. The work considers how memories show themselves through places, objects, and passing encounters, revealing grief not as a fixed destination, but as a continuous journey.
