The Continuous Wound

The Continuous Wound traces the womb and it's re-occurring pattern. Through self-portraiture, I unveil my body within habitats that symbolise the womb; simulating the invisible umbilical cord that connects us to one another. Central to this work lays the wound that is kept raw, open and bloody until life grows within, to which another pain comes; a letting go of waiting. Through a subtle undertone of grief woven throughout these photographs, an untouched thread ties womb to tomb. Inspired by sacred, female symbolism, I tether my body to the land by visualising the memory I have with the womb. Each handmade print recounts my journey back to the space life is created from. These photographs serve as a reminder of this and its reflection in our universe. Scans of 12x16 darkroom prints.
