De Su Sangre (2026)
De Su Sangre (From Her Blood) is a photographic exploration of my cultural identity as the English-born daughter of a Venezuelan mother, navigating a sense of belonging inherited through blood rather than place. Using my family’s archival negatives, originally captured in Venezuela by my uncle, I revisit and recontextualise these images to question what it means to belong to a country I have never lived in. The work examines how history, memory, and lineage persist in the present, not as something distant or lost, but as something embedded within me. De Su Sangre reflects on inherited cultural memory and the experience of carrying identity internally, existing within the body rather than across borders through fragmented images, personal archives, and imagination.
