In Between Selves
In Between Selves focuses on how identity operates performatively and fluidly, as young people create and communicate multiple iterations of themselves through clothing, posture, environment, and photographic mediation. Rather than treating the subject alone as the source of identity, the images explore the camera as an active agent in shaping posture, gesture, and self-awareness through the act of being photographed. Identity emerges through performance, perception, and representation rather than existing as something fixed within the individual. Informed by both documentary and staged photography, the series balances intimacy and distance to explore the changing relationship between fashion, image, and identity.
