This project, FINN, is named after my younger brother and has been a collaborative process between two long distance siblings. I live in England and he lives in France, we don't share the same language so we've always struggled even just to talk and this project started as a way around that. I gave him a film camera and photography became the communicative bridge between us. What you'll notice in his images is that he shoots without hesitation, his compositions are loose and instinctive, fingers in frame. There's a freedom in the way he sees that I've largely trained out of myself, a youthful optimism. Where I second-guess, he just shoots. I gave him film partly to slow him down, to teach him to be decisive, but also because I was curious what his eye would do with limitations.
