Where the Light Enters

Where the Light Enters is a photographic exploration of light, shadows, longing, and soft escape. This project examines the relationship between the inside and outside, and our own internal and external worlds, using windows as thresholds to portray this. Through shedding light into spaces darkness has previously occupied, both emotionally and physically, light becomes symbolic of exposure and hope in this psychological space. This project also explores the longing for escape, watching the outside world from within, yet feeling trapped in interiority. These images explore memory and the tension between safety and entrapment. By photographing light entering my childhood home, this work invites viewers to reflect on how places hold memory, and how light can temporarily interrupt darkness.
