Mikey Lennon
A Pilgrim's Way
Paraphrasing a name from one of the oldest trails in England, "A Pilgrim's Way" explores the resurgence of contemporary English folklore and the land that these traditions originally stemmed from. In a time where national pride in England is synonymous with exclusionary, flag-waving, hateful ideologies - I have chosen to pursue an alternative, uplifting pride. Growing up in the East Midlands, I spent a lot of time in nature, looking as closely as I could at the world around me. I shot this project based on that instinct - the slow process of medium format photography has allowed this reflex to take full form. Being slow and reflective in photographing has let me represent how I truthfully see my country.
