Everyone understands me in the Valley of Tears
This work explores the embodied relationship between space and the self, using walking as a method of engaging with and understanding the mind and environment. This immersive process allows images to be born from instinct; intern I am able to respond to the landscape’s emotional presence. These photographs convey this intimate connection between self and space, often by abstracting the landscape to reflect the emotional and mental state evoked by the walk. The act of moving through this environment, which can’t be deemed fully natural or urban, allows for a visual narrative of exploration, where the camera alludes to a strange and unique world through the act of noticing and discovery.
