Langain
'Langian' is a photography project on racing pigeons. These images were taken in the lead-up to the new racing season. Homing pigeons have an innate ability to navigate home over hundreds of kilometres. As they get closer to home, they switch from using an internal magnetic compass to identifying landmarks they recognise. Throughout this body of work, I show the beauty in this sport and abstract images to create the feeling of isolation and distance. It feels bizarre to me that some creatures, like pigeons, carry home inside them as if it's an organ, whilst others spend their whole lives looking for it themselves. Home to them moves away from being just a word to an innate feeling.
