The Act (2026)
This series draws on theatrical and operatic imagery to explore identity as performance, illusion, and transformation. Influenced by The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Magic Flute, and The Phantom of the Opera, the photographs present figures suspended between character and apparition within unstable, staged environments. Painted skies, drapery, and curtained frames foreground artifice, creating spaces that feel deliberately detached from everyday reality. Gothic references shape the work through themes of doubling, the uncanny, and tensions between surface and interior. Costume and gesture become structuring devices that both construct and obscure meaning. The figures appear controlled yet vulnerable, ornamental yet expressive, suggesting identity as something continuously performed, reconfigured, and unresolved within theatrical space and shifting psychological states.
