‘Where I am, you are.’
Digital technology constantly reshapes my memories, echoing how recollections flex, distort, and update. My project, Where I am, you are, uses surrealism and digital manipulation to disrupt my physical family archive, exploring how we lose the sensory texture of the past in a digital age. Sifting through photos from the 1900s brings intense nostalgia and a deeply personal search for belonging. By applying surrealist distortions, I’ve transformed these albums from literal records into fluid, psychological landscapes. Ultimately, this work prioritizes subjective feeling and dreamlike imagery over historical accuracy, questioning the idea of perfect digital memory. It is a bridge between my family's world and my own.
