"The Inevitable Threshold"
My work explores the heavy architecture of grief and the clinical reality of mortality. Moving away from the isolation of the woods, I situate these themes within the church an institution that serves as the final, inevitable destination for the body. This transition highlights the dissonance between the private impulse to cease existing and the public burden of the funeral. By focusing on the aftermath rather than the act, I examine how suicide is never a singular event but a complex interplay of factors. The imagery confronts the romanticisation of death, replacing it with the weight of those left behind. Ultimately the work serves as a meditation on the collective impact of loss, acknowledging that the pain of staying is often outweighed by the enduring grief of absence.
