Up to Your Knees in Gutters
Up to Your Knees in Gutters explores my relationship with my father through our shared work as oil boiler technicians in rural Northern Ireland. Having grown up around the job, it is through working alongside him that I have begun to understand the physical and emotional weight it carries. The project reflects on how labour shapes our connection through routine, shared effort and the quiet gestures of the work. At its core, the work sits within the tension between inheritance and independence, considering the path my father has walked and the one I may someday choose to follow. Photographed on blackand-white film, the project carries a sense of nostalgia tied not only to the past, but also to the future.
