Thin Places
In Celtic spirituality, a “thin place” describes a location where the boundary between the physical and spiritual world feels especially narrow. As a Christian, I have experienced many places and moments that felt spiritually significant. To explore this further, I asked Christian friends, “Where do you feel God’s presence?” I then photographed these places while allowing participants to describe their experiences in as much or as little detail as they wished. Through slow viewing, lens flares and image imperfections, the work attempts to recreate the feeling of a thin place and encourage viewers to reflect on where they may experience this themselves. “Come near to God, and he will come near to you.
