“Oshitosu - Pushing Through”
Being an athlete can be the most rewarding and heartbreaking experience. In moments of success, you feel untouchable as if the world is at your fingertips and anything is possible. But when losing, the feeling shifts. Doubt creeps in, motivation fades, and it can feel as though winning is unreachable. The highs and lows are inevitable in sport. During the lowest points, it’s essential to reconnect with the reason we started to rediscover the love for the sport. This work explores self-representation as an athlete during those lowest moments in competition seasons, and the challenge of pushing through. In these periods, revisiting childhood memories, when medals didn’t matter. When Karate was purely for love.
